Thanks Mitthrawnuruodo.
Yeah, the clock's fine on both which is weird. My time-zone for my iPod is Tokyo which is about 1.5hrs behind but my actual time-zone doesn't appear as one of the options. The time-zone support option in iCal is disabled (by default). This is really weird, all the times in iCal are correct but they're just not syncing with the iPod well. I don't have anything else to sync which is a shame because I could work out if it's my mac or my iBook. :(Try enableing the timezone in iCal, and set it to the same as your iPod (I would change both to somewhere nearer to my own...)
glad your back. our team is getting passed left and right it seems!
and man, what a way to come back. those machines are very nice
Where are you located?
NC, usa
Still not that great quality, performance is better though after clearing cache. Hmmmm what's going on??

If it opens in Parallels, then install the free and open-source PDFCreator tool over there, and capture what you want by printing to the virtual printer the PDFCreator tool installs. You can then do whatever you wish with the PDF files thus generated.

Wanker is slang for "wonderful people". So it was actually a compliment

I'm in favour of this move. CDs were great (along with cassette tapes and LPs) because you could play them in any CD player and you could buy the CDs themselves from any shop. For some odd reason we don't get this with MP3 players and I do think that's anti-competitive. If I want to move to a different MP3 player or buy my music from another store to use on my iPod then that should be my choice and Apple should have to accept that.
This has not really been the case, though. When VHS was replaced by DVD, you didn't get the new media for free. Being locked into a particular platform occurs all the time--toner cartridges for printers aren't standardized, for example. I can't use Comcast's on demand to buy programs, then switch to DirecTV and have them transferred. When I buy the latest video game, it doesn't come packaged with PS2, PC, Mac, and XBOX versions.
See the theme? If you choose a limited hardware platform, you must accept the constraints of that platform. CDs are universal because the standard was universal (Sony, Philips, etc. formed a consortium from the get-go)--multiple manufacturers make CD players. Here, the content is the same but the packaging is different--cassette, CD, M4A. Only Apple makes M4A players.
By purchasing a song from iTunes, you are receiving the file with limitations. The reason for the price is bundling. If you want a product with no restrictions, which you want to use to the fullest extent of fair use (or beyond, if you so choose), you have to look elsewhere. You're not being denied fair use when you rent a movie on VHS for $2 when the DVD rental is $4...and you don't get to rent the VHS, then make a DVD just to save $2. Likewise, you're not paying for an unrestricted copy of the song on iTunes, and you aren't entitled to treat it as such using "fair use" as an excuse.
If you want unencumbered music, pay for the CD. If you want instant gratification and a lower price, then be an adult and accept the DRM. The option you want is out there and legally available--it's just that CDs are a "bad value." Likewise, iTunes tracks are probably a "bad value" to many people who think 99 cents should entitle them to DRM-free files. Should DRMed digital files be cheaper? I think so. But that's no excuse to go beyond the clear and publicized terms of my payment.
I don't want to have to re-purchase my iTunes music that I have bought. If DVD Jon has a way to allow reasonable consumer choice then FairPlay to him.
Nobody wants to buy things twice, but that's no excuse. I have piles of spare tools that fit cars I no longer own; toner cartridges for printers I no longer own; memory cards for cameras I no longer own; and floppy disks for computers I no longer own. Each time I switch companies, I have to deal with the consequences of my prior purchases.
I think we will just have to wait and see. This does tie in with the none-touch touch interface, but then again these things develop significantly, so whatever that guy was talking about would be already quite different.
I still think a vPod before Christmas could help divert attention from the Zune, which only has a 4:3 screen (no, really)
But as others have said, the scroll wheel just feels so right.
I'm hoping for this thingy to be an iLife to Go. with photos, music, movies, WiFi, and some basic PDA functions (ical, ichat, mail, addressbook..., iWork?)
It could be a 4th line of iPods, or even a 6th line of Macs
I've used AnyBiz's software for PDF to Word and PDF to Power Point. Both programs have worked well and you can download them for free. I use the free versions which have some setting omitted like batch conversion but for what I need, it's no problem. Since you have a larger file, you may want to pay for the software. Either way, it's free to try. They have a PDF editor and PDF to iPad. Try it out. Lemme know if it works.

You could make a Tetris-themed one the same way.
That was my first thought too.
My concern is if you have big fingers, or a poor grip strength, holding the thing will inadvertently set off the buttons if they are on the bezel
<steve>Then get smaller fingers.</steve> :)

im pretty sure u can buy like a kit apple sells to test your knowledge of apple products and duties that come with the job or something like that to see if u are able to handle the Position of GENIUS. But i'm sure they will ask you why you want the job, why do you think you deserve it, do you have good people skills etc. and to answer the p.s. personally i cant stand super fresh haircuts, and idk about the shaving.

It's hard to fathom just how high the Twin Towers stood. You could look up and just be in awe.
I've never actually been to NY but seeing some of the highrises in my city, I can only begin to imagine just the sight of seeing both towers collapse in a spectacular cloud of smoke and tremendous cacophony of twisted metal beams and hailstorm of glass.

My perfect idea for iTunes 5:
How many times have you thought of a song lyric, but you have no idea who sang that song? So you plug the random lyric into Google and it gets you nowhere. My idea is a lyric search engine embedded into iTunes. This can only increase the profits for Apple and the amount of consumer confidence in iTunes. Thoughts?

I have heard about the massaging thing. Does it really work? Could someone list some specific steps to this process? How hard exactly do I need to press and for how long? Also, since I already have one stuck pixel now, does that mean I am more prone to stuck pixels in the future?
^^^ Can you post the link it refers to?
Ok its back. I opened a new window so it would stay on the screen. how do you find the url of the ad?
cancel i was trying to figure it out and it went away :(

are cell phones not working across all the country ?
I did say that.
Most of the system was overloaded with calls, every time we tried it was a pre-recorded "system busy" message (Tokyo area).
We had much better success at using Skype and Yahoo to talk to friends the traditional phones/cell phones.
Of course areas directly in tsunami area would have neither, because it was all simply destroyed.
The Airs look really tempting (once Lion comes out, not much point at the moment for me).
However I see comments about it not being great for the 'heavy lifting' jobs. I don't do much processor intensive stuff, but on my '08 MacBook, iPhoto sometimes takes a while and exporting an hours movie from iMovie it can slug quite a bit.
How do the Airs cope with these kind of tasks?
No one answered him and I am interested as well. Are there benchmarks comparing iphoto and imovie between MBA and the MBP?
Also, I love flash based games and my laptop always gets really really hot when playing them. Is this a problem?
