Easy Way to Get Fusion Cores Fallout 76

Fallout 76 Fusion Cores are an extremely valuable resource in the Appalachia countryside. These are used to power the iconic Power Armors that are synonymous with the Fallout franchise, and players looking to tackle the endgame should always be on the hunt for them.

But unlike say Fallout 4, which is a single-player game with set locations and items, Fallout 76 works a bit differently when it comes to this resource. The always-online system ensures that there is an element of randomness at play here.

So with this Fallout 76 Fusion Core guide, we'll show you all of the best ways to acquire this precious resource for yourself.

The process of acquiring Fusion Cores in Fallout 76 is slightly different from past games in the series.

Not only can players find them out in the world, multiple sources can actually be used to generate more cores over time. These can then help you constantly replenish your stock of the resource.

The process of crafting Fallout 76 Fusion Cores is not simple or quick, but it is a guaranteed way to ensure that you always have access to the item.

It can take a bit of farming on the player's part, but you require five different components for this process.

  • Pure Cobalt Flux: 1x Glowing Mass, 1x Hardened Mass, 1x High-Radiation Fluids and 10x Raw Cobalt Flux.
  • Pure Crimson Flux: 1x Glowing Mass, 1x Hardened Mass, 1x High-Radiation Fluids and 10x Raw Crimson Flux.
  • Pure Fluorescent Flux: 1x Glowing Mass, 1x Hardened Mass, 1x High-Radiation Fluids and 10x Raw Fluorescent Flux.
  • Pure Violet Flux: 1x Glowing Mass, 1x Hardened Mass, 1x High-Radiation Fluids and 10x Raw Violet Flux.
  • Pure Yellowcake Flux: 1x Glowing Mass, 1x Hardened Mass, 1x High-Radiation Fluids and 10x Raw Yellowcake Flux.

Once each of these items have been crafted at the Chemistry Station, players can use the exact same workstation to combine them into a Fallout 76 Fusion Core.

There are also three other sources through which cores can be generated or crafted.

1. Laser Weapons: Weapons such as Gatling Lasers and Ultracite Gatling Lasers yield a singular Fusion Core each. When you craft either of these guns, they come loaded with a core that serves as ammunition. A fully charged one provides exactly 500 shots.

These can be removed and used for Power Armors if the player wishes.

2. Fusion Core Processor: The Fusion Core Processor is a type of Mineral Extractor that can only be found in the following three locations.

  • Poseidon Energy Plant WV-06.
  • Monongah Power Plant.
  • Thunder Mountain Power Plant.

They cannot be crafted by players and they cannot be moved from their set locations. But when provided with 100 electricity, Fusion Core Processors generate a fully charged Fallout 76 Fusion Core every seven minutes.

3. BoS Collectron Station: A BoS Collectron Station is a resource gathering structure that fills up with items every seven minutes or so. It can be crafted by the player with the following components.

  • 1x Circuitry.
  • 1x Copper.
  • 1x Gear.
  • 3x Steel.

Total items gathered cannot exceed the maximum storage capacity of ten pounds.

Not everyone has a penchant for crafting, so these methods are for those who don't want to spend a lot of time farming for resources.

Spawn Locations:

Fallout 76 Fusion Cores can always be found in the following locations.

  • Arktos Pharma: Three cores can be found in this building. Two are on the fourth floor, while one is in the loading bay's Fusion Generator.
  • AVR Medical Center: Search the Fusion Generator below the cafeteria of the area.
  • Big Bend Tunnel: The storage room with the Mole Rats has a Fusion Generator you can loot.
  • Bleeding Kate's Grindhouse: Another Fusion Generator can be found next to the movie screen. Search it to find a core.
  • Charleston Capitol Building: There are two different Fusion Generators in this structure, and both are found on the lower level. One is in the eastern end while the other is in the western end.
  • Fort Defiance: Search the bottom row of a metal shelf in the third floor armory.
  • Hornwright Industrial Headquarters: A Fallout 76 Fusion Core can be found in the Fusion Generator on the top floor.
  • Palace Of The Winding Path: One core can be found in the basement, on the metal shelves next to the generator.
  • Wade Airport: On the desk in the air traffic control tower.

Loot Sources:

Each of the following sources of loot can yield Fallout 76 Fusion Cores.

  • Power Armor: If players encounter a Power Armor in the open world, it is going to have a core. They cannot function without it, so this is a guaranteed source for the item.
  • Fusion Generators: Apart from the fixed locations we mentioned, it's generally a good idea to search any Fusion Generators you come across.
  • Ammo Boxes: Fallout 76 Fusion Cores are technically classified as a type of ammunition. So there is always a small chance that ammo boxes may contain them.
  • Enemies: Some enemies like Anglers, Feral Ghouls, Radtoads and Sentry Bots may drop Fusion Cores upon death. Generally the chances are higher when dealing with robotic enemies.

Quest Rewards:

There is one set quest one quest type that reward Fallout 76 Fusion Cores.

The Line in the Sand public event guarantees two fully charged cores upon completion. It is given by Scribe Grant at Fort Defiance.

Daily Ops are randomized and repeatable dungeons that reward players with a variety of different items on completion. Finishing these with a weapon that uses fusion cores will reward fully charged cores as a reward towards the end.
